Morgan - I think there timing may be perfect for consumer acceptance in these turbulent mortgage times - I do love the basic vetting process - I've kissed enough mortgage frogs who I hoped were princes (or princesses) and wouldn't wish those warts on any consumer!

Zillow could be onto something truly beneficial to both the consumer and the originator. Only time will tell, but the model may improve accountability among other things. I remain skeptical and will wiat to rant or rave about it as I start seeing the quality of their offering.

It's good to see that emphasis may finally be being put on a loan officer's TRUE qualifications - not merely having passed some dumb continuing ed, but their experience & reputation in the local marketplace. They should check the credit scores of all applicants & shlt-can anyone under 660. I hope they actually pick up the phone & do some checking. The local MI reps know who's any good & who is a dufus, who is honest & who is a shake-down artist.

chad » I have no vested interest or affiliation with zillow.com. I've always been a fan of them and how they've strived to make home prices accessible to everyone w/out having to go through a realtor. They have been a big proponent of consumer-control and putting the consumer ahead of the industry. I hope that they take this spirit in to the mortgage realm. Many have tried but the barriers are great - I simply think that Zillow has the right mind set, combined with the brand clout, audience and cash to make it happen.

I think the first part is to think in terms of conversations, not leads. You'll have the chance to engage a captive, active audience who are looking for mortgages in the context of a transparent community - that sounds far better than any "lead" source currently out there i.e. lowermybills, etc.

My two pennies.

Morgan, it seems almost as if you have a vested interest in this website. Do you know something we don't? I don't see how we can get so excited about something that we are not able to get more details about. How are these leads going to be directed towards us? I have never got any business from internet based leads so I am new to this aspect of our business.
