The reality is that it is a program designed to find a perfect shiny needle in a haystack of un-perfect needles. The moral of the story is if you have to pay anything late (And I do not highly recommend it) It should never be the mortgage. A timely mortgage history along with some other compensating factors will always be your saving grace with most lenders and especially with a standard FHA loan program.
