But I worked for Guild Mortgage here in San Diego for a time and was taught by people who have worked in the business since the early 70’s. I only started in mortgage in 2002, but had worked in title from 1987 to 1992 and vowed I’d never work in real estate after that, until I got the bug again 10 years later.

Also, I was mentored by a guy here in La Jolla who started with Home Savings back in 1961! The first thing he told me back in 2002 was, “Don’t get greedy, you’ll last in this business for about six months!” I’ve heeded that advice and I’m still here!

My rule has always been, if you can’t defend something to an auditor, you shouldn’t be doing it. I was taught by old timers, and silly me, I’m old school, but I’m still here.

It should be really interesting for the next couple of years.

With that being said, I still love this business.

You are so correct; Florida is a market that is almost identical to SoCal- the affordability factor (or lack thereof) comes into play there.

All knowledge I have of Florida is second-hand: my friend from Ft. Myers sold last year and tells me of the plethora of listings left unsold. my friend in SoFla tells me the same. I have little experience in Florida so I thought it best not to write about it.
