Bank of America CEO: “We did some stupid things.”

As well covered by Housing PANIC and Calculated Risk, Bank of America’s CEO Ken Lewis has made some waves with his comment:

"We are close to a time when we’ll look back and say we did some stupid things. We need a little more sanity in a period in which everyone feels invincible and thinks this is different."

The full article is up on Bloomberg.  Keith at HousingPANIC, Mortgage Impode-o-Meter and CR have some brief thoughts as well.

My take: replace "stupid" with irresponsible, illegal, shady, fraudulent, criminal, malfeasant, etc. and the sentence works even better.

Bank of America is still doing stupid things!!!!!! I have earned over $100,000 for the past four years and close to that for six years. I have NO DEBT because I live below my means and usually pay cash. Bank of America turned down a loan of $25,000 for a car because I hadn't had a car note in 15 years. I was turned down!!!!! My house is paid, my husband and I together are in the 33% tax bracket, no credit cards, no kids, 55 years old and they turned me down. I have the letter saying I was not qualified!!!!!!!!!
