FHA: Don’t Call it a Comeback!

by Morgan on May 4, 2007

Originators – if you don’t know FHA, or aren’t burning the midnight oil to learn it right now something is severely wrong with your approach to the job.  Over the last 2 weeks I have had 3 banks ask if we do FHA loans (we do – we had our whole staff in to talk about them on a Saturday to kick off the knowledge sharing) and have heard more and more reps pushing the product.  Why?  Because it fills a niche that some of the conventional subprime mortgage loans can no longer fill.  It will pay huge dividends to understand and know FHA loans moving forward.

If your company isn’t sponsoring training don’t just sit there (talk to a manager about getting some training) and then train yourself.  Here are a few of sure-fire places to start:

Brian Brady on FHA Streamlined Refinances

Tony Gallegos at The Mortgage Cicerone is Mr. FHA.  Hear him talk about FHA loans here.

And of course, learn your guidelines.

Then follow Brian’s advice and get after it.
