Markus -

I agree, I watched the video segments and I thought to myself "The people who produced this story are not much better than the sleazy mortgage brokers who hype up blown mortgages that people should never go for in the first place."

Sensational television and Dateline in particular never get any love from me, but this guy was just so bizarre.

I think the strong-willed women that I know in my life just turn red with anger when these bamboozled women just feign weakness as the excuse for their actions.

I mean at some point you have to say that putting multiple mortgages on properties you don't own has to ring some kind of bell in your head that what you are doing is majorly illegal.

I had to read that story a couple of times to let it sink in. I have a love/hate view of sensationalist journalism anyway.

I do believe that mortgage fraud is way under-reported in the U.S. - but one can visualize the NBC pre-show meeting, deciding how they would structure and air this story: the "tugging at the heart strings" of all American women who ever felt bamboozled by an attractive man, defenseless, non-assuming women whose only crime was to "let their hearts get the best of them".

Sheesh! It's all rather ridiculous and hard to believe. I'm more jaded than the next guy, so I found it difficult to feel a great degree of sympathy for Mr. Cox's "innocent victims".
